The International British Waqf

International British Waqf (IBW) is a registered UK charity that invests donatations to create funds for charitable programmes. Donations that are given as Waqf, an Islamic form of charity similar to endowments, are dedicated to perpetual social good, and the IBW works to make those donations go further.

Guided by our Islamic values, we envision a world in which thriving societies help every human being realise their God-given potential

Our goal is to support communities in need to improve their lives through a range of developmental programmes. These programmes are supported by successfully investing Waqf donations in a way that complies fully with Shariah as well as UK financial regulations.

International British Waqf is an international non-profit organisation registered in the UK with the Charity Commission (No.1208651) and Companies House (No.14790001). We work with registered UK charity Human Appeal to implement our charitable programmes.

Our mission

Empowering impoverished communities, both groups and individuals, to rely on themselves for a dignified life is a primary goal of the organisation. This is achieved through various developmental projects and programmes. To accomplish this goal and ensure the continuity of Waqf in fulfilling its noble mission, the organisation seeks to increase its resources not only through donations from Waqf contributors but also by implementing successful investment projects that comply with Islamic Sharia and modern standards in the field of investment. This is realised through the utilisation of specialised and dedicated committees that ensure complete adherence to Sharia standards as well as world-class recognised criteria.

How do we use your donation?

We invest your donation promptly in accordance with Shariah and international financial regulations and standards. We select low-risk investment projects in order to preserve your donated capital, and this is supervised by a committee of financial experts. Our Board of Trustees monitors and evaluates investment performance on an ongoing basis under the supervision and consultation of the Investment Committee. IBW implements various charitable projects from the proceeds of these investments through our partnership with Human Appeal’s field offices in various locations.
