Professor Kamil Omoteso
Chair of the Board of Trustees
A Professor in Accounting and Governance, Kamil Omoteso is Pro Vice-Chancellor and Dean of College of Business, Law and Social Sciences at the University of Derby.
He founded the Education Support Initiative For Africa (ESIFA) that has donated more than 75,000 books and journals for African universities, and has held many academic positions at De Montfort and Coventry universities.
In 2015, he was the recipient of the Outstanding Author Contribution at the Emerald Literati Network Awards for Excellence, and is a current member of the Board of Trustees of Human Appeal.

Dr Emir Camdzic
Member of the Board of Trustees
Dr Emir Camdzic is a distinguished expert in Islamic finance and risk management, specialising in Islamic finance and commercial investment. He holds multiple advisory positions in the industry and has extensive experience, including a tenure at Al Rayan Bank.
As an educator, Dr Camdzic has imparted knowledge in Islamic finance and entrepreneurship to postgraduate students at the Markfield Institute for Higher Education.
He is currently the MBA Islamic Finance and Risk Management Programme Lead at the University of Bolton. Dr Camdzic holds a BA in Islamic Studies, a Master’s degree in Islamic Banking, Finance and Management, and also a PhD in Islamic Finance. Additionally, Dr Camdzic possesses numerous certifications relevant to his field and is a signatory to the guiding principles for the Takaful industry in the UK.

Dr Muhammad Qattan
Member of the Board of Trustees
An advisor in Shariah banking, Dr Muhammad Qattan is a member of the Shariah supervision committee with a number of banks, funds, and investment companies, including the Dubai-based Islamic Arab Insurance Company (Salama) and Minhaj for Islamic Consultancy.
Dr Qattan graduated in Islamic Economics from Imam Muhammed bin Saud Islamic University in Riyadh, KSA, and has a PhD in Islamic Banking from the University of Birmingham UK.
How he sees the IBW:

Morshed Alam
The Executive Director
Morshed Alam has worked in Islamic charity finance for over eight years. He is a graduate from the prestigious al-Azhar University in Egypt where he studied Arabic and Islamic Studies, followed by a Masters in Islamic Finance, Banking and Management from Birmingham Newman University in the UK.
Morshed has a number of Islamic finance qualifications including a Diploma in Islamic Finance and Entrepreneurship from the University of Dundee in Scotland, UK; a Diploma in Waqf management from the International Institute of Islamic Waqf, Malaysia; a Diploma in Commercial Real Estate and Financial Management from Cornell University, USA. He also has an Islamic finance qualification from the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment (CISI), UK.
Morshed was formerly Director of the International Waqf Fund (IWF), affiliated with Islamic Relief Worldwide (IRW), and has worked as a consultant in Islamic financial accounting standards on Waqf investment funds.

Syed Ali Owais Ahmad
Finance Manager
A Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, Owais Ahmad is responsible for all aspects of IBW’s finances. He studied Economics at the University of London (Queen Mary College) and also has a Postgraduate Certificate in Business Administration from the University of Warwick. He has almost forty years’ financial and management accounting experience gained in a variety of roles with a diverse range of organisations.
Owais started his career in the corporate world, including stints at General Electric and Accenture, before moving to the social care sector and finally for the past ten years in the charity sector. The majority of this time has been spent as Head of Finance at Islamic Relief Worldwide. He also has three years’ experience of building up his own Domiciliary Care company which employed over 150 staff.
How he sees IBW:
“I am attracted to the perpetual nature of Waqf having seen how revenue from Waqf assets have funded madrassas in Bosnia for the past five hundred years, even through the most tumultus of times.”
