The Cataract Waqf Project was dedicated to assisting internally displaced People (IDPs) who were particularly vulnerable in Mogadishu. The project organized screening sessions at IDP camps situated in the Kahda and Deynile districts, during which about 150 individuals were carefully examined for cataracts.
After a thorough screening process, 28 individuals were diagnosed with a specific medical condition. Subsequently, these patients received comprehensive procedural care per their needs, followed by surgical intervention. Each surgical procedure lasted around 20 minutes. The medical team addressed the specific needs of each patient during this time. Some surgeries took place last week, while a few were scheduled for this week.
Moreover, individuals not experiencing cataracts were offered comprehensive consultations and treatment for any other medical conditions they might have been dealing with. This initiative is designed to enhance the well-being of the affected individuals by focusing on their eye health and guaranteeing that they receive the essential medical attention they need.
